Additional Infosafe 2.5IN USB 2.0 Ide Information
|
This USB 2.0 to IDE External Hard Drive Enclosure lets you transform virtually any 2.5in IDE notebook hard drive into the perfect portable storage solution. Ideal for storing digital multimedia and other demanding applications, the IDE hard drive enclosure allows you to get the most out of your hard drive, connecting to a host computer using USB 2.0 (also backward compatible with USB 1.1), for maximum data transfer rates of up to 480Mbps. A truly portable solution, the enclosure features lightweight yet durable aluminum construction, as well as a small form factor design that fits perfectly into your pocket or notebook bag when not in use. To eliminate the hassle of having to find a power outlet when you're ready to back up your data or load your stored files, the enclosure requires no external power supply, as it's powered through USB connection to the host computer.

For that, it worked just fine. My laptop HD started to have problems, and wouldn't boot anymore. Before I lost everything I bought this product hooked it up to my PC to get my needed files. Did what I needed it to do. If you are looking for a permanent enclosure to use for an external hard drive, you might want to look for something that's built a little better.
cheaply made (even for a super mass produced product from china). The unit I received was defective and it is on its way back for a refund.btw, if you insist of getting this, bear in mind that it supports drives of no more than 120gb.
Decent product but hard drive did not seem to be held in there well - you get exactly what you pay for on this. If you value what's on the drive, spend the extra money just to be on the safe side. Also requires use of two USB drives. I returned mine.
I took a 20 GB hard disk (Hitachi) from a broken Dell Latitude L400 and place it in this enclosure. It is working fine as an external hard disk. The hard disk must be removed from the Dell mounting bracket and connector before intalling it in the Infosafe.
This works perfectly if you have an old 2.5 ide drive. Only complaint I have is that the screws were tiny and hard to screw in.
